01 -
Set your oven to 400°F (204°C) to warm up. Cover a baking sheet with foil, making sure the foil comes up around the edges too.
02 -
Put the saltine crackers on the foil to fully cover the bottom. If they don’t fit perfectly, break them into smaller pieces to fill in gaps.
03 -
Melt the butter in a medium-sized saucepan on medium heat. Add the brown sugar and stir until everything mixes completely. Boil the mix for 3 minutes but don’t stir it again.
04 -
Pour the hot butter and sugar combo over your crackers. Use a rubber spatula to make sure every cracker is fully covered.
05 -
Slide the baking sheet into the oven and let it bake for 5 minutes.
06 -
Take the baking sheet out of the oven. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the toffee-covered crackers while they’re still hot.
07 -
Wait 2–3 minutes for the chocolate to soften. If it doesn’t melt enough, you can briefly return it to the oven. Spread the softened chocolate evenly with the back of a spoon or an offset spatula. Sprinkle some decorations if you’d like.
08 -
Let everything cool completely—you can pop it in the fridge to speed things up. When it’s fully set, crack the toffee into pieces. Put them in a sealed container for storing.
