Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Coat a madeleine pan with grease and dust it lightly with flour.

In a big bowl, beat sugar and eggs together until it looks thick and light. Stir in melted butter, vanilla, lemon zest, and milk gently.

Mix the flour, salt, and baking powder in a separate bowl until combined.

Carefully combine the wet ingredients with the dry, making sure not to overmix.

Add the batter into the molds, filling each spot about three-quarters of the way full.

Pop the pan in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. They’re done when golden and a toothpick slides out clean.

Leave them in the pan for a bit, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Combine lemon juice and powdered sugar in a small bowl and stir until smooth.
